Well, Election Day is finally here. Honestly, I'm relieved it's going to be over as much as I'm apprehensive about the results. There hasn't been an election since the first for which I was eligible to vote that I've been excited to vote for a candidate. Fortunately, I know where I stand and can vote on policy and not personality. My vote is cast, but it's going to be a low-key, no Facebook and Netflix kind of night.
Netflix and knitting… on the project front, I have a few things to show. The first is my climbing leaves pillow, which has been an ongoing project for a few weeks. It is done, and I love it! I should have done the side seams differently, but overall, it came out nicely, and I'm really excited to be able to give it this Christmas.
The other two projects are actually sewing projects. I don't have a designated space for cutting and sewing, so the machine isn't dragged out very often, but I had to bring it out this week to get to the bottom of something: the legging craze. I don't get it! The big selling point on them seems to be comfort, but if they don't fit right, they aren't comfy, and they don't fit me right. So, I found a tutorial , drafted a pattern to fit, and sewed a custom pair of leggings.
While shopping for legging fabric, I found another which seemed perfect for my take on a Lularoe Nicole dress. I used the book, Sew Many Dresses, Sew Little Time, to draft a pattern, using the basic bodice, modified with a scoop neck and short sleeves, and a 1/2 circle skirt. It turned out almost exactly how I pictured, which is, probably, a sewing first for me!
Finishing a knitting project cleared the deck to cast on another, so I will be working and that and dishcloths this week. I made a few over the last few days, so hopefully, I'll be able to keep that going.
Also in the finished category: Body Beast, the Beast UP calendar. It's been a challenging four weeks. The Beast UP schedule is designed to be a little more challenging, and, especially with Halloween, food has been a struggle. What seems to happen, Beast increases my appetite quite a bit, and I have a hard time keeping up with it. I go too long between meals and end up having to grab whatever is there. If I just did a little more planning and prep work, the results could be amazing. Regardless, I'm happy. What's next, I haven't yet decided. I will probably fill in the gap between programs with a lot of Country Heat routines and some total body resistance work. I lost a lot of ground strength-wise the month I did Country Heat exclusively, so whatever I choose, it will definitely include strength training.

Drafting a pattern: I used the pages of a catalog for the pattern paper. It worked well, and the price was just right. |
